Afghanistan

A country that was supposed to be a paradise of tourists is on the verge of collapse by terrorism. Those who think there is nothing to bother since it is happening in Afghanisthan and we are safe should realise one thing that covid-19 erupted at china - thousands of kilometres away from us and yet it is now wreaking havoc all over the world. A group of radicals get control of an entire country!. It is beyond our imagination what those insurgents are into once they became established. It is no doubt that India is the next target of this Foreign Govt funded military organisation. The so-called world police will go offline in silent support for this.

Instead of a single country sending military aid and face the consequences, all countries should send their men to Afghanistan. Eradicating a count of ten thousand plus terrorists is not a big deal. But if no proper action is taken now, its aftermath will be terrible.

I am walking

Its raining, raining ...
I was walking through the streets
Without looking back, the ways I traveled,
Without looking at the horizon.

Cherishing that beautiful memories,
Looking forward to the surprises ahead,
I walked ... just walked ...

I saw many people in between ...
Some are beautiful, a few are close to me,
I met many who are worried for their choices.
Over time they walked away to the aisles for their reasons.

I kept walking .. just walking.

Nothing is permanent,
In the end the body that walked for me will stop
Then I continue on to another,
Through the ways of time.

Why am I walking? What is the need for this?
What is the intuition behind this? I do not know.
The answer is at the end of the journey
I was walking meditating on my thoughts.

Domestic violance

Today I happened to see a newspaper article that said the government of Kerala is planning to appoint an official in each district for the proper implementation of the dowry ban. Already we have a useless women commission in place that incur unnecessary expenses to the government. There are some government portals that are not of great benifit. I think what we need is communities like Kudumbashree where women can share their circumstances.

Each panchayat can have one community that comprises women experts from legal, police, psychology & other related areas.  It is a space for the victims to speak out about domestic violence that they are facing. A place where they can connect to people who go through similar situations and experts who can guide them or escalate the matter if it is severe. I think Kudumbashree can do more in this area than some government officials.

People discuss everything on social media. But we rarely see anyone posting about their family issues. They are worried about the status quo. A privacy controlled social app could be helpful where people can start the conversation anonymously and share their details with someone like a counsellor or a legal expert if they wanted to. Open discussions can even save someone from committing suicide.

Together we can move mountains.

Business, First & Economy tickets for covid19 vaccine

The Rafael deal was for Rs: 60000 crores. No one has discussed about economic depression that could have happened then. Today when the whole country is suffering from covid, govt says the economy will suffer if the vaccine is provided free of cost.  Do they want to give it based on classes so that there won't be any crowd on the first-class vaccination centres? That reminds me of a scene from the movie Titanic when Ruth DeWitt Bukater's ask - "Will these lifeboats be seated according to class? I hope they're not too crowded." And many are comparing this to ration card colours. It is an emergency and not an economic situation.

Yes, everyone knows that it is difficult to provide a free vaccine. Look how the state of Kerala is dealing with it. The ruling government is urging people to donate through CMRF. Govt can give tax exemptions to hospitals that provide the vaccine for free.

We are a nuclear power. That is enough to confirm our national security. We spend thousands of crores on statues, new parliament building & for weapons. Instead of the unnecessary expenditure, we could have invested more in health care systems.

BSNL broadband application through crowd sourcing

There is a gap between the firm and the applicants due to obvious reasons. The purpose of this scheme is to assist a user to put up his broadband application hassle-free and enable the BSNL to see location-wise applicant density. With more applicants from a location, they can prioritise the deployment or instruct the franchisee to expedite the deployment before some private ISPs allure the applicants.

It has two interfaces:

  1. A mobile/web app for the applicants
  2. Dashboard for BSNL

Mobile/Web App

The authorisation is based on Aadhaar number and OTP. The user can select their building location, provide the details and apply. A single Aadhaar user can apply only once. They can edit or delete their application. They can also see the status of the application.

Dashboard for BSNL

With the dashboard, the firm can get insights on the applicant density in a locality/region/state, the status of a specific application, etc.
There can be red, green and yellow dots for pending, provided and issue statuses. A map layer of the existing connections may be useful. The UI should be intuitive.

2021 resolution

My last year's resolution was a simple one. "No clothes purchase for a year". I was well stick on that resolution.

This year I am going to focus on my health. We need to be more conscious about health as we get older. I have issues with my sleep. My cholesterol levels are slightly high. Obesity is another issue for me. I'm been exercising for a while but I have not been able to make it a habit yet. I have a plan for that. Do not take off from exercise for two consecutive days.

In a couple of weeks, I will be leaving Chennai for Trivandrum. Hope I could follow good health habits at my home state.

"Happy New Year"
